DESCRIPTION:
Douglasleigh House is an elegant period townhouse, which is believed to date from about 1860. The house is built of stone with a slate roof. It is a principally two storey house with a single storey portion to the rear. The house still retains much of its period character and fittings including cornicings, pine skirtings and panelled doors. In 1955 it was divided into two flats, one on the ground floor and the other on the upper. At that stage a separate entrance with staircase was created to give access to the first floor. In 2002 the property was acquired by the sellers who utilise the whole house as one. It therefore has considerable potential either as a large family house, or could easily be sub-divided into two (subject to any necessary consents), creating a separate annexe or flat. It could also work extremely well as a bed and breakfast establishment. The house benefits from secondary and double glazing.Wrought iron gates with stone gate pillars open onto a short drive which leads up to a parking and turning area adjacent to the house. Further double gates, with an additional pedestrian gate, give access directly from Guthrie Street onto a parking area in front of the double garage, which, along with a range of outbuildings, is situated just to the rear of the house.

DIRECTIONS:
From Dundee take the A92 dual carriageway eastwards, and then take the turning signposted Carnoustie. After 1.3 miles bear left at the roundabout, signposted to the town centre. Proceed through the town following Dundee Street onto the High Street. From Church Street, and just before the left hand corner onto Carlogie Road, turn left into Dalhousie Street. The entrance to Douglasleigh House will be seen on the right, at the junction with Guthrie Street.If coming from Arbroath on the A92 take the turning to Muirdrum for Carnoustie (A930). Proceed into the town, on Carlogie Road, and take the second turning into Maule Street. Then take the second turning on the left into Dalhousie Street and Douglasleigh House will be seen on the left at the junction with Guthrie Street.
